LetsCookGF Contest ~ The Rules

LetsCookGF Contest 


Welcome to the 1st Annual LetsCookGF contest created by the authors of Gluten-Free Made Simple.  Every picture tells a story. What's yours? Plate and present your gluten-free cooking skills for all to see and judge. Remember, be creative and have fun! 

Who may Enter:  Anyone!


Purpose:
Our recipes can help you create great tasting food, but adding your artistic vision can turn that food into something beautiful. We've chosen three delicious recipes from our Gluten-Free Made Simple cookbook for you to choose from and show us your most creative, appetizing and beautiful way to present your culinary masterpiece. 

How to Enter:
(1) "Like" Gluten-Free Made Simple on Facebook. So we can notify you if you are a winner.  
(2) Prepare one of the three recipes from our blog: Sugar Cookies, Key Lime Mousse, or Fruit Pizza.
(3) Photograph the creative and fun way you served your recipe.
(4) Upload your original photo and a brief description on how you presented your recipe to Facebook.com/GFMadeSimple. 


How to upload your photo: 
(1) Go to the "Wall" tab on the Gluten-Free Made Simple Facebook page.
(2) Type or paste a brief description in the "write something" box on the GF Made Simple FB wall.
(3) Click "photo" to upload your picture.
(4) Click share.
(5) Share your photo with friends and encourage them to "like" your post!

How are winners selected:
By you! Vote for your favorite and encourage your friends to vote for your photo by "liking" its post. Voting will be open from May 1st - May 31st.

The winners receive: 
1st place will receive a signed copy of Gluten-Free Made Simple, Gluten-Free Made Simple Apron, Kitchen Aid Paring Knife & Nonslip Cutting board, Measuring Cups and Measuring Spoons.  The winning photos will also be published in the online magazine Creating Together Journal.
2nd and 3rd place will receive a signed copy of Gluten-Free Made Simple and will also be published in Creating Together Journal. 




Fruit Pizza

Mix and match different fruits each time you serve it!




Ingredients
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 egg, beaten
3 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour such as Domata Living Flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup carbonated water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 8-ounce tub cream cheese
6 cups fruit pieces such as peeled mango, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, peeled kiwifruit, and/or seedless grapes

Directions
1. Preheat over to 350 degrees F. Grease large baking sheets and set aside. In a large bowl mix together sugar and butter until well mixed. Add egg and mix well.
2. Ina medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt and mix well.
3. Add flour mixture to butter mixture, stirring until combined.  Add carbonated water and vanilla and mix just until blended.  Divide dough into 3 portions.
4. Place dough portions on greased baking sheets. Using your fingers, press and shape each dough portion into a circle about 9 inches in diameter.  Build up edge of each dough circle.
5. Using a fork, make holes in the bottom of each dough circle.  Bake about 15 minutes or until edges of crusts begin to brown.  Cool on baking sheets on wire racks.
6. Spread cream cheese on top of the cooled crusts.
7. Arrange cut fruit on each crust as desired.  Refrigerate until ready to serve.  Makes 3 small pizzas.  Serves 12.

LetsCookGF Contest ~ How to Enter.

Key Lime Mousse

This rich, smooth dessert can be dressed up
for a party or down for a casual treat!

Ingredients
1 3-ounce package lime gelatin such as Jell-O
1/3 cup boiling water
1 cup plain yogurt
1 6-ounce carton gluten-free key lime yogurt
1 8-ounce carton gluten-free whipped topping such as Cool Whip
Shaved chocolate (optional)

Directions
1. Pour gelatin into a large bowl.  Add boiling water and stir until gelatin is dissolved.
2. Add plain yogurt and key lime yogurt and mix well.
3. Fold in whipped topping.  Spoon into dessert dishes.  If desired, sprinkle with chocolate.  Chill until set.  Serves 8.

Sugar Cookies







Pretty to look at and yummy to eat!


Ingredients
5 tablespoons dairy sour cream
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour such as Domata Living Flour
1 recipe Powered Sugar Icing
Sanding Sugar (optional)

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix sour cream and baking soda.  Set aside. In a large bowl beat butter and granulated sugar with electric mixer until creamy.  Beat in egg, vanilla, salt, and sour cream mixture. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time, beating until combined.

2. On a pastry cloth or board, roll out dough and cut into desired shapes.  Place on an greased cookie sheet.  Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.  Cool on a wire rack or waxed paper.  Frost with Powered Sugar Icing.  Makes 48 cookies. 

Powered Sugar Icing
1. In a medium bowl mix 4 cups powered sugar, 2 tablespoons softened butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla.  Mix in enough milk (about 3 tablespoons) to make spreadable consistency.
